Wednesday, March 8, 2017 5:30 to 7:30 PM Evolution of Florida Modernism Presentation by Max Strang, FAIA
Max Strang, FAIA, founding principal of Miami-based [STRANG] Architects, will discuss how the Sarasota School of Architecture movement has influenced his body of work. As one of Florida’s pre-eminent practitioners of regional modernism, Strang has demonstrated that the optimistic spirit of the Sarasota School can indeed be advanced into a new era. Strang worked in London for the world-renowned Zaha Hadid and in New York for SHoP Architects. The architect of greatest influence, however, was Florida's Gene Leedy, an important member of the Sarasota School of Architecture. Strang was raised in a Leedy-designed home and later interned in Leedy's Winter Haven office. READ MORE Photo: Tuckman Residence, Fort Lauderdale FL, 2017
