TROP Architecture is an architecture and interior design firm focused on providing unique, environmentally responsive design to our clients.  Our creative and collaborative team is seeking for an Intern Architect with a minimum of 2 years of architectural working experience.   Minimum B. Arch education required. The position requires thoughtful design, development and detailing skills as well as critical thinking. Applicants should possess the ability to produce quality construction drawings. Experience in coastal residential and boutique commercial projects is preferred. The ideal candidate is proactive, a self-starter, and has the ability to work independently as well as in a team focused setting.

Facilities Space Planning Coordinator (Official Job Title: Business Professional II) (10-29-19)

This is professional level work responsible for interior space planning and project management for short to mid-range space utilization projects.  Proficient using AutoCAD and 20-20 Technologies for systems furniture planning.  Works closely with client, internal team and vendors to coordinate all phases of a project from planning/concept through implementation and close out.  Strong communication and presentation skills.  Must work independent as well as in team environment.  Must have a good understanding of ADA and Florida Building Codes.

  • Designs space layouts and rearrangements using systems furniture and case goods for offices/workstations and provides project management services from initiation of project through completion of occupancy.  Tasks include meeting with clients to collect interior space requirements, developing floor plans, completes AutoCAD drawings of proposed layouts, makes presentations, obtains cost estimates and management approvals.  Extensive systems furniture knowledge.
  • Create & maintains project schedules, meeting minutes and communicates with project team on a regular basis.  Coordination of all support services such as data/electrical and coordinates move management.
  • Financial responsibility to budget, track and prepare RFPs, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, change orders, and project cost estimates.  Evaluate proposals, check furniture specifications, review invoices for payment.
  • Leads special projects for Facilities Planning, including assisting the manager with the mid to long range Facilities Master Plan. Conducts ongoing research, reporting and monitoring of county facilities space needs, taking into consideration changes in population and associated Department support functions. Have continuous communication with all County Divisions and Constitutional Officers and incorporate the Facilities Condition Assessment into a Strategic Planning Report.  Coordinate assignments with consultants and see that information is compiled and ready for presentations to management and BCC.
  • Coordinate use of surplus systems furniture and case goods from the storage warehouse.  Make furnishing selections based on County standards, conduct product research for specialty items.  Create color and material boards, ability to freehand sketches/detail.  Review interior renovation construction documents and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate and complete employee moves and furniture requests received through Facilities Planning work ticket request system.

Minimum Qualifications:  A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Interior Design, Architecture, or related Facilities field and two (2) years job-related experience, OR six (6) years professional job-related experience can be substituted at management discretion for the required education - OR - Related professional program/project management may substitute for the required education at management discretion.  A valid Drivers' License is also required.

Preferred Qualifications:  Facilities Planning experience preferred. Florida Licensed Interior Designer preferred.

Job Competencies:  Proficient in current AutoCAD version, Microsoft Office Suite and CAP software.  Strong background in commercial interior design with extensive comprehensive systems furniture knowledge, furniture specifications, selection of furniture and finishes. Sound understanding of architectural design standards, construction standards, ADA & building codes. Solid experience in space planning, restacking, master planning, space analyses, moves management, & test fits/block plans.  Previous Facilities Planning experience. Ability to manage/lead a unit project/program/team; ability to set program goals and manage timelines; ability to prioritize work effectively; ability to respond to high level, controversial issues; ability to demonstrate excellent time management skills; ability to identify trends through statistical analysis; ability to develop and ensure compliance of principles, policies and practices; ability to build strong relationships with County Departments/Divisions and Elected Officials.

Physical Demands:  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

As a Project Architect // Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Independently coordinate work on a multi-discipline team through multiple phases of a project
  • Establish owner/client and internal meetings, and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Conduct work sessions at project site in conjunction with other disciplines
  • Write and edit architectural specifications
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed

Ideal qualifying experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Project Management, and Scheduling software
  • Strong knowledge of Florida building codes and local zoning codes
