Planning & Development Services One Stop

Sarasota County Planning and Development Services One Stop (PDS) is a new public facing One Stop facility bringing all the constituent parts of PDS under one roof. The project's single slope roof provides a dramatic marker for the project at the scale of the open location between the interstate and the open Celery Fields, as well as providing the optimum pitch for the roof mounted photo-voltaic solar array. The 'Z' shaped plan develops two separate exterior spaces, one being a public entry plaza facing west, visible from the interstate, and a clear entry from the public parking lot; the second, a staff green space contiguous with the Celery Fields and the future Audubon park. The manipulation of the natural light and ensuring view lines to the exterior from staff office spaces is crucial to the studio feel and staff well-being. The building skeleton is a custom pre-engineered metal building providing a cost-effective construction solution.
