Sara Bay Country Club at 100: A Century of Construction and Renovation

Celebrate Sara Bay Country Club's centennial with a guided architectural tour exploring a century of construction and five renovations. Through on-site observation and discussion, participants will compare terra cotta block, early concrete masonry units (CMU), and modern CMU, alongside conventional wood roof framing, wood roof trusses, and metal bar joists. The tour will examine how these systems coexist and the challenges of renovating a building constructed in multiple eras, including structural connections, material deterioration, and compatibility. Intended for architects and design professionals with a basic understanding of building construction.
